Day 1: Welcome to Rome
On arrival at the airport or rail station, you'll be warmly greeted and chauffeured to the Palazzo Navona Hotel in the heart of the Eternal City. The rest of this day is yours to get settled and enjoy as you wish.
Day 2: Tailor Your Stay in Rome #WHS#
Rich in both history, art and modern-day culture, Rome offers so much to enjoy. Today you'll have the opportunity to personalize your exploration based upon your personal interests. Just choose one of these included half-day tours and let your private guide immerse you in the city they love and know so well! Walking Tour with Tagliere Tasting: A relaxed morning walk with your personal guided reveals some of the city's most iconic sites including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona - built on the site of an ancient Roman stadium and hailed today as one of the city's most beautiful. This tour ends at a local macelleria (butcher shop) for a Tagliere - a tasting of their fine cured meats and cheeses, accompanied by fresh bread and a glass of fine Italian wine. This 4-hour tour begins at 9:00 am outside the Farmacia (Pharmacy) at the base of the Spanish Steps. It is offered daily except Sunday and other blackout dates may apply. Roman Gastronomy Tour: Experience the sights, sounds and flavors of the city like a true Roman citizen! Standing inside the largest amphitheater of the Roman era, it's easy to imagine the palpable excitement of the 70,000 spectators who filled the Colosseum 2,000 years ago. Then continue with your private guide to explore the extensive ruins of the Roman Forum. Filled with temples, basilicas, government buildings and bustling public spaces, this is where the city's ancient denizens would gather to do business, debate politics or simply connect with their fellow citizens. This 3-hour tour begins in front of the newsstand by the Colosseo station exit of the Line B Metro and ends at the Forum. This tour is offered daily with certain blackout dates throughout the year. Vatican Museums: Starting from your hotel in a privately chauffeured vehicle, this halfday tour begins with one of the most important museums in the world, home to a fabulous collection of art, antiquities and, of course, the Sistine Chapel. The complex of buildings nowadays called Vatican Museums was actually built and used as the official residence of the Popes, whose rooms were decorated by the greatest artists of all times, like Raphael, Pinturicchio, Botticelli and Michelangelo. Your guide will lead you through a selection of masterpieces that culminates with the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo's frescoed vault and Last Judgement have been leaving visitors in awe since their unveiling. Day 3: Into the Umbrian Countryside to Perugia
A magical day unfolds as you leave the capital behind, traveling in your chauffeured vehicle into the pastoral landscapes of Umbria. Near the historic hill town of Montefalco, you'll make a stop at the Capria Estate. Delight in the breathtaking 360° views from their villa, surrounded by vineyards, and enjoy a tasting of their fine wines including Sagrantino and Montefalco Rosso. Day 5: Onward to Siena #WHS#
After breakfast, a scenic chauffeured journey brings you to the ancient town of Pienza #WHS# where you'll meet your guide for a tasting of some locally produced cheeses. Then continue your journey through the gorgeous Tuscan countryside to Siena, regarded by many as Italy's loveliest medieval city. Check-in to the Grand Hotel Continental and later this afternoon, your private walking tour will take you along Siena's charming cobbled streets to behold the architectural landmarks that surround the fan-shaped Piazza del Campo; this is the bustling heart of town and it's dominated by the imposing crenelated façade of the 13th-century Town Hall. Depending upon seasonal closures and religious holidays, your private tour will also include a guided visit inside the Siena Cathedral or the Palazzo Pubblico. Day 7: Visit San Gimignano #WHS# + Travel to Florence
Departing Siena, this morning's chauffeured journey takes you to San Gimignano. Easily recognized by its soaring, wondrously preserved towers and encircled by 13th-century walls, this medieval hilltop town is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Indeed, many consider this to be the epitome of a Tuscan hill town. On arrival, your private walking tour of San Gimignano's architectural highlights will be enhanced by the deep historical knowledge and keen cultural insights of your resident guide. After sightseeing, continue to a nearby vineyard estate for a Tuscan lunch accompanied by a tasting of their fine wines.
